The Club Flower Show

Image

Since 1968 the CVGC has held annual flower shows, which are always open to the public. About 6 years ago it was decided that the Flower Shows would be held every other year, and since then have been held at the Thousand Oaks Library. On October 26th and 27th 2019, the Flower Show broke with tradition and was held at the Stagecoach Inn.

The show at the Stagecoach Inn was a placement show, meaning that the Inn picked which piece of their vintage furniture would display our floral designs, matching the designs theme with the style or color of the furniture. Many of the club members are experienced floral designers, however all club members new and old, as well as members of other garden clubs are encouraged to participate by entering their floral designs for judging.

The Club Plant Sale

Every year CVCG holds a Plant Sale at the T.O. Library which is open to the public. Every other year the club holds a Flower Show also at the library which is also open to the public. The plant sale is one of two major fundraisers for the club. Our other major fundraiser is our annual Tea in the Garden in May on Mother's Day weekend. This is held in a member's garden and is always a fun event enjoyed by our members, their daughters, mothers, and friends.

Conejo Valley Garden Club continues to be involved with the community with workshops 4 times a year at Senior Concerns (adult day care center), schools in the Conejo and the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, where CVGC has donated several benches and funds for other projects needed. Our club also contributes to several conservation projects such as The Theodore Payne Foundation, Conejo Open Space, the Santa Monica Trails Council, Channel Islands Restoration, The Stagecoach Inn, Oxnard Historic Farm Park, and CA Wildlife Center, etc.
